BREAKING: Unknown Gunmen storm Imo community, abduct 15 youths
Some unknown gunmen on Saturday invaded Ekwe Community in Isu Local Government Area (LGA) of Imo State (LGA) and kidnapped 15 youths who were excavating sand at Njaba River.

POLITICS NIGERIA learned that while some of the gunmen were masked, others wore military camouflage with no masks.

After abducting the 15 young men, the hoodlums stormed the palace of the town’s traditional ruler, Eze Nicholas Ibekwe.

According to Eze Ibekwe, one of the gunmen spoke the Hausa Language.

This newspaper learned that the gunmen shot indiscriminately into the air and searched for more youths of the community to abduct. However, no one was killed in the attack.

It has not been the best of times for the residents and business owners in Imo since the security unrest in the state rose to an alarming level.

Once bubbling LGAs have become ghost towns as persistent attacks and kidnappings have forced many residents to relocate to safer places.

Kalu Wants Atiku, PDP Leaders To Pick Wike As Presidential Running Mate
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Chief Charles Kalu, has advised the party’s leadership and the presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, to pick the Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, as running mate for the 2023 presidential election.

In a letter addressed to the PDP National Chairman, Dr. Iyorcha Ayu, at the party’s Wadata Plaza headquarters, Kalu, also the Director General of Atikulated Agenda Campaign Organisation, stated that for coming second in the party’s presidential primary, Wike had demonstrated strength and capacity that would help the PDP garner more votes in the South South geo-political zone as well as the South East.

Kalu said: “He is such a leader capable of galvanizing block votes for the party considering the degree of support and popularity he enjoys from the referred zone, including the South East.

“PDP requires to get a running mate that commands greater portions of political relevance in order to achieve the desired end of winning the 2023 presidential election.”

Kalu, the National Coordinator, Peoples Democratic Party Coalition (PDPCO), noted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) had picked Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as its presidential flag bearer and that for the PDP to be able to assemble votes and make headway, a strong and capacity running mate had to be considered.
