2023 presidency: Shehu Sani tells PDP’s Atiku type of candidate to choose as running mate

Former lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani, has told Alhaji Atiku Abubakar the kind of candidate for him to choose as running mate under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Sani, who represented Kaduna Central during the 8th National Assembly, urged Atiku to choose a Vice President he could work with as a team. He disclosed this in a tweet via his Twitter handle on Monday.

“The opposition primaries is done. All aspirants, party members and Nigerians who want…(I wanted to write Change but I changed my mind) a new united, peaceful & prosperous Nigeria should rally round the Candidate Atiku Abubakar. And for AA, Choose a VP you can work with as a team,” he wrote.

Recall that Atiku, a former Vice President, emerged as the Presidential candidate of the PDP for the 2023 general election on Saturday. Atiku polled a total of 371 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, who garnered 237 votes.

Former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, scored 70; Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel, scored 38; Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, polled 20 votes; Anyim Pius Anyim scored 14, Sam Ohabunwa polled 1 and Olivia Tariela also scored one vote.

Presidency: Jonathan in Italy as APC screens Tinubu, Osinbajo, others

Amid speculations that he would contest the 2023 presidency under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, former President Goodluck Jonathan is in Lake Como, Italy.

The PUNCH had reported that Jonathan’s name was missing from the list of aspirants as the APC holds screening for its presidential aspirants in Abuja. Among those expected to be screened today is the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu.

The PUNCH gathered that Jonathan left for Italy on Sunday, May 29, 2022. The PUNCH had reported that Jonathan’s name is missing from the list of aspirants as the APC holds screening for its presidential aspirants in Abuja. Among those expected to be screened today is the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu.

“I arrived in Milan, Italy, to attend this year’s high-level advisory board meeting of the European Corporate Council on Africa and the Middle East (ECAM Council), holding in the ancient city of Como. “I am pleased to be part of ECAM Council’s creative engagements toward promoting more productive investment in health, education and other social services in Africa and the Middle East,” Jonathan posted.
