NYSC Gives Update After Bus Conveying Corp Members Caught Fire

The management of the National Youth Service Corps in Delta State has dispelled reports making the rounds on the social media that some Corps Members lost their lives in a fire incident that involved a Coaster bus belonging to the College of Education, Warri.


In a statement released, the state coordinator of the scheme noted that the vehicle was scheduled to convey Corps Members that served in the Institution to Asaba for their Passing-Out Ceremony.
However, contrary to what some online reporters peddled, indeed, there was a mild fire incident involving the Coaster bus, however, there was no casualty.
All the Corps Members in the bus made it to Asaba for the ceremony and the vehicle returned to the College for repairs.

 

Popular Pastor Shot Dead

Abraham Yorka, a well-known pastor in Tai Local Government Area of Rivers State has been shot dead.
A member of the Oloko community, who identified himself as Monday Piit, told reporters that the men of Oloko community went to eat after working on a community farmland when they heard the shouts of women and children.

Piit disclosed that the gunmen burnt down houses, shot at people, and also burnt their victim’s motorcycle.
Piit stated that it was later that Oloko community discovered it was a local Vigilante group from a neighboring Community in Oyigbo LGA that were behind the incident.
He said some of the persons who escaped from the assailants disclosed their identities.
Mr Piit also alleged that some of the natives of Oloko community are still missing.
The acting spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, DSP Grace Koko, was not available for comments as of press time.
