JUST IN: Ganduje Transfers Power To Deputy, Jets Out To UAE

Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state has transferred power to his deputy, Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna. Ganduje did this shortly before jetting out to the United Arab Emirates. The state’s commissioner of information, Malam Muhammad Garba in a statement late Wednesday said the governor would be attending an Investment Summit being facilitated by the Nigeria Governor’s Forum (NGF) at the Arab country and as such Gawuna will be the acting governor of Nigeria’s commerce centre.

The statement directed all commissioners, heads of extra-ministerial departments, top government functionaries, corporate and individuals to give the acting governor due recognition, support and cooperation. Daily Trust reports that the governor had been away from the state for several days, playing a huge part in the recently concluded APC convention held in Abuja.

Wike, Fayose meet Adebutu in Ogun

Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike and former Governor Fayose of Ekiti State Wednesday met with Hon. Ladi Adebutu in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital. The duo of Wike and Fayose met Adebutu at the Ake Palace Ground in Abeokuta. The former lawmaker was at the State capital to declare his ambition to contest for the governorship seat under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Party leaders from the Southwest and members from all the local governments in Ogun State had gathered in Abeokuta for the official declaration. Speaking, Adebutu said he had the support of the people of Ogun State to run the governorship race and to wrest power from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2023. According to him, the PDP has a register of over 300,000 members in Ogun State, expressing optimism that the party would return to power in the next election.

‘Sopranos’ and ‘Goodfellas’ star Paul Herman dies on his 76th birthday

Actor Paul Herman, who appeared in “The Sopranos” and “Goodfellas” is dead, aged 76. Herman died on his birthday, Tuesday, March 29th. The cause of death has not been disclosed. His death was confirmed by Michael Imperioli, a former Sopranos castmate.

Imperioli wrote: “A first class storyteller and raconteur and one hell of an actor … Paulie lived around the corner from me the last few years and i am glad we got to spend some time together before he left us. “I’ll miss him. Lots of love to his family, friends and community of actors and filmmakers.”
