President Buhari Gets Booed By Residents Of Borno

On Wednesday, February 12, 2019, President Muhammadu Buhari was booed by some residents of Borno state during his condolence visit.

On Sunday, February 9, 2019, about 30 people were killed during a Boko Haram attack in Auno near the state capital Maiduguri.

As the presidential convoy made its way to Maiduguri, some residents in the state capital booed President Buhari. The residents were heard to be saying “Bama so!” “Bamayi!” which means “We don’t want; we’re not interested.”

 

President Buhari received further criticism when he told residents of the state that Boko Haram cannot strike without their cooperation.

Shortly after President Buhari’s visit to Borno, Boko Haram struck again. According to reports, the terrorist group attacked the Jiddari Polo area of the state.

“We are under serious attack right now. Boko Haram stormed the town hours after the president left” a resident of the state told The Cable.

The attack started at about 7:05 pm after Muslim prayers. Residents ram for safety as the sporadic shooting started within the area.

According to an eyewitness report, hundreds of women and children sat on the roadside as the Nigerian military, local hunters and civilian JTF fought the insurgents.

 

Woman Allegedly Stabs Her Husband For Having Side Chick

A woman allegedly stabbed her husband in Imo state because she suspected that he had a side chick.

According to Linda Ikeji’s report on Wednesday, February 13, 2019, the man woke up after his wife stabbed him twice because she suspected him of infidelity.

A friend of the victim shared photos of the man receiving treatment in the hospital.

“Hmmm! Just visited my friend Mr Jude Mmadu from FMC Owerri this morning. His wife tried to kill him because she suspected that he has a side chic somewhere. Thank God after stabbing him twice as he was sleeping, he managed to wake up and escape” wrote the friend in a Facebook post.

 

16 members of a family reportedly burnt to death in Kaduna

On Tuesday, February 11, 2019, bandits invaded the Bakali village in Fatika District, Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

According to multiple reports and eyewitnesses, 16 family members were locked up in a room and set on fire.

“The bandits were said to have invaded the predominantly Hausa community at about 4 pm and started shooting sporadically.

“While the villagers scampered to safety, the assailants set fire on houses, vehicles, motorcycles and farm products in the village.

“The bandits who invaded the village in their number locked up 16 members of the same family in a room and set fire on the house,” a community leader told Channels TV.

Nigerian music legend, Victor Olaiya passed away yesterday, Wednesday, February 13, 2019.

The passing was announced by his record label Evergreen Music Company.

“The entire music world wish to announce the death of a Legend of Highlife music, One of the last man standing, the last of the original Dr Victor Abimbola Olaiya OON.

“We pray that the soul of the Doyen of highlife music finds repose with his creator while wishing the family and entire music community the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss” read the statement from the label.

 

Burna Boy Claims He Is The Best Nigerian Act Since Fela

Popular Nigerian star Burna Boy was involved in a bit of controversy yesterday.

The Grammy-nominated act posted a series of tweets that raised more than a few eyebrows.

According to one of his tweets, Burna Boy said he is the best Nigerian act since Fela Anikulapo-Kuti and no one paved the way for him.

 

His tweets received backlash from Nigerians online.

NFF Appoints Yobo As Super Eagles Assistant Coach

Former Super Eagles captain Joseph Yobo has been appointed the Assistant Coach of the male national football team.

The announcement was made yesterday by the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF). The retired footballer will replace Imama Amapakabo in the Gernot Rohr-led backroom.

Yobo has 100 caps for the Super Eagles and lifted the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) trophy in 2013.

He also had a successful club career, playing for the likes of Marseille, Everton, Fenerbahce, Standard Liege, Norwich, etc.
