Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen opened his account for the senior national team in Nigeria’s 2-2 draw against Ukraine in an international friendly on Tuesday evening and he has taken to social media to respond to the team’s performance.
The Super Eagles number 21 scored his first goal for Nigeria eleven minutes before the half-time whistle from a disputed penalty awarded by Italian official Paolo Valeri after Samuel Kalu was adjudged to have been fouled.
Although Osimhen didn’t score from open play, he proved a handful for the Ukrainian defence with his physicality and pace. Manager Gernot Rohr is on the lookout for a replacement for Odion Ighalo, who announced his international retirement after the Africa Cup of Nations, and the Lille striker is believed to be presently ahead of Racing Genk’s Paul Onuachu in his pecking order of center forwards.
In a post on his official Instagram page, Osimhen said : ”Good team performance??GOD is the greatest??we move✊?”.
Osimhen made way for another French-based striker Josh Maja three minutes into stoppage time of the second half.
French Ligue 1 side, Lille also celebrated the Super Eagles striker’s goal on their official page on Twitter.
