Manchester United striker, Dillon Hoogewerf was missing in Netherlands U17 coach Mischa Visser’s final 21-man squad list for the upcoming match against France due to injury, according to reports.

Of the 33 players named on the original preliminary list, eleven players have been placed on standby and Hoogewerf was the only player omitted.

And this suggests that the Red Devils’ whizkid has not fully recovered from the injury he suffered against Liverpool nine days ago. The 16-year-old had to make way for Ayodeji Sotona 24 minutes into the game against The Reds.

Hoogewerf has been capped at U15 and U16 level by the Netherlands, scoring an impressive 8 goals in 13 appearances. All the thirteen matches he played for the Netherlands youth teams were friendlies, meaning he can play for Nigeria without applying for a change of association just as William Troost-Ekong did before his debut for the Super Eagles.

De Oranjetalenten face France on Tuesday 17 September and Thursday 19 September and both matches start at 6:30pm at the Vondersweijde sports park in Oldenzaal.
