Premier League star, Andriy Yarmolenko who is one of the most recognizable faces in the Ukrainian squad that will take on Super Eagles at the Dnipro Arena on Tuesday, September 10, has revealed that they cannot take Nigeria lightly when both teams face-off, claiming they will come with full force against Gernot Rohr’s side.
Ukraine have been spectacular under the tutelage of Andriy Shevchenko since the start of the 2020 European Championship qualifiers, winning four of their five games and are the joint best defensive team with only one goal conceded, along with England and Belgium. Shevchenko’s team showed their might on Saturday, beating Lithuania 3-0 in an away game.
After the game against Lithuania, The West Ham United winger stated this in an interview published by the official website of the Ukrainian Association of Football.
”Before the match (against Lithuania), when we were going to the stadium, we saw how many of our fans were on the streets,” Yarmelenko said.
”They were even more surprised when they went out to work out and saw how many were in the stands. Thanks again to them. I am sure that we will play with full force against Nigeria in Dnipro as we will be supported by the fans. All for them. In general, I missed Ukraine, the Ukrainian fans”.
Yarmolenko made his first international appearance in a year against Lithuania, following his Achilles injury.
