Barcelona new signing, Antoine Griezmann produced a man of the match performance that saw him score a brace as the Bluagranas beat Real Betis 5-2 in their Camp Nou debut for the 2019/20 season, despite being without the likes of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, and Ousmane Dembele who were sidelined due to injury.
In the 41st minute, Griezmann got onto the end of Sergi Roberto’s wonderful cross from deep to send the ball beneath Dani Martin, though he hardly celebrated the goal as it was not the right time to celebrate an equaliser. Instead, he waited for the right moment, but he didn’t have to wait long as only four minutes into the second half he sent a stunning curling effort beyond the Betis goalkeeper to make it 2-1.
He ran straight to the corner of the pitch to find a friend waiting there with a bag of confetti, which he put into his hands and threw into the air, just like Basketball star LeBron James’ iconic pre-match routine in the NBA.
Lionel Messi was pictured in the stands watching with his other teammates not involved and his children, clearly enjoying the moment as he put out a beautiful smile after the Frenchman scored the second goal.
