Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen, has revealed to journalists in Lagos that Super Eagles team-mate and Stoke City midfielder, Oghenekaro Etebo, is a motivation to him.
Osimhen made this known after his appearance at a summer training camp organised by Etebo at the National Stadium, with the Charleroi of Belgium star among the Super Eagles players who showed up.
“Etebo is a great human. I’ve been with him for a couple of years and he has been a motivation to me and to be here [at the Summer Camp] is a pleasure,” Osimhen said to press men on Thursday evening.
Along with Etebo, the summer training camp in Lagos also saw Super Eagles midfielder, John Ogu, in attendance to inspire young footballers in the country and share their experience at club and national team level.
The 20-year-old striker was in the Super Eagles squad to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), though, made only one appearance throughout the competition after coming on for the injured Odion Ighalo in the third-fourth playoff match which saw Nigeria win 1-0 against Tunisia.
And when asked to assess the tournament, Osimhen told the press the Super Eagles had a good outing in Egypt, though, the players would have preferred winning the title.
“It was a good tournament for us. We wanted gold but we got bronze; we achieved something in Egypt,” the striker said.
Osimhen added: “I’m really grateful. I watched these lads years ago and for me to be in the team and play among these wonderful talents is a dream cone true for me and to win bronze is an achievement also for me. I’m really happy.”
