In a highly unusual scene at the end of a match, a Malawi football player found himself receiving a live animal as his Man-of-the-Match award over the weekend.

Hassan Kajoke scored two goals for Nyasa Big Bullets in the 5-0 win over Karonga United and after the match, he was approached by an eager fan who presented him with a chicken painted in the club’s colours.

The ‘award’ was presented after the fan had received permission to do so, with Kajoke seemingly taken by surprise by the turn of events which saw the chicken packaged in a box which had the player’s name spray-painted on it.
