Super Eagles forward, Alex Iwobi, has revealed the most difficult game the team played at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
The Super Eagles got to the semi-final of the competition, but lost to Algeria before going on to defeat Tunisia in the Third Place game by an Odion Ighalo goal to nothing.
“It’s difficult to say, because of the quality even in the group stage against Burundi, Guinea and Madagascar,” Iwobi said, Goal reports.
“The toughest one was trying to overcome the team that knocked us out, Algeria. Maybe it was against them because we weren’t able to win.
“Thanks to the fans for their support, we will always make them proud because of the support that they give us.”
Iwobi was one of the Super Eagles’ most consistent players in Egypt and scored the winning goal in Nigeria’s 3-2 win over Cameroon in the second round.
Despite the team failing to meet the expectations of local football fans, the Nigerian Football Federation have decided they will stick with current boss Gernot Rohr.
