The former Athletic Bilbao star announced his decision to leave Old Trafford in the summer of 2019 after being unable to agree on new terms with the club board. Herrera implied that the club took too long in opening talks on a new deal as the club finished in 6th position after an unimpressive season.
Herrera spent five seasons at the club, winning the FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League during that time, and established himself as a fan favourite thanks to combative style and leadership qualities on the pitch.

“This is a sad moment to be honest because I’ve enjoyed the past five years with this club,” the 29-year-old told United’s official website upon his departure. I want to thank the fans for all they have done for me. I will never forget the way I have been treated by the fans, whether I’ve been playing or whether I’ve been somewhere else. As soon as you give everything for the club, they will support you and love you and I’ve found that.”
A leaked image shows Herrera appearing to be in the middle of a photo-shoot pitchside at Les Parc des Princes holding his new No.21 shirt alongside a pair of PSG officials. Herrera joins Marco Veratti, Leo Paredes, and Pablo Sabaria who has already been unveiled as a PSG player as the French champions aim to defend their League title and win the elusive UEFA Champions League.
