Super Eagles Captain, Mikel Obi has expressed delight following his move to Trabzonspor, DailyAdvent can report.
The 32-year-old who is currently on national team assignment at the ongoing 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) was unveiled by the club earlier today and will team up with compatriots Ogenyi Onazi and Anthony Nwakaeme.
Mikel wrote on his official Instagram: “Thank you for such a warm welcome from all the Trabzon fans.
“I can’t wait to arrive to Trabzon and have my debut game @trabzonspor. My family and I are very excited for our next chapter in Turkey.”
Interestingly, Onazi had welcomed the skipper to the Turkish club, when he took to social media after the deal was confirmed: “I am so happy I made the deal to work out because I have been on the phone with the club president and my ‘Skippo’ (Mikel) for the past two days,” Onazi said.
“I did everything to convince Mikel because I want him to come over here and let us form a formidable midfield, with Tony (Nwakaeme) in the attack everything will be perfect for us.”
