The 32nd edition of the Total African Cup of Nations kicked off finally in Egypt with the host opening proceedings against Zimbabwe. The Pharaohs who are hoping to win an unprecedented eighth AFCON title started on the front foot with Liverpool star Mohamed Salah involved in the thick of things.
The Premier League star was a threat on the right side of the pitch and he almost forced an own goal from Zimbabwean defender who inadvertently directed a ball from the Liverpool star into his own goal but was bailed out by his goalkeeper.
The champions league winner continued to prove to be a menace on Zimbabwean defender Lunga who couldn’t cope with the pace and trickery of the Egyptian star. However, despite Salah being Egypt’s biggest threat, it was Trezeguet who found the breakthrough for the Pharaohs beating a couple of Zimbabwean defenders to curl a beautiful finish into the back of the net.
