Premier League title challenger Liverpool are set to break Manchester United’s Premier League record as they are locked in talks with Nike and Adidas over a new kit deal that would surpass the £750m Premier League record agreement set by their rival.
Liverpool remain in discussions with Nike and Adidas over a new kit deal that would shatter the current Premier League record. It was earlier reported last December how the league leaders, whose current £45million per season contract with New Balance expires in June 2020, were keeping their options open about finding a new supplier.
Anfield officials believe they can secure terms that would surpass the £750m package that Manchester United have with Adidas. The club stress, however, they are not yet close to striking an agreement.
Club | Kit supplier | Contract runs | Total value (£) | Per season (£) |
---|---|---|---|---|
Barcelona | Nike | 2018-2028 | 1bn | 100m |
Real Madrid | Adidas | 2015-2025 | 980m | 98m |
Manchester United | Adidas | 2015-2025 | 750m | 75m |
Manchester City | Puma | 2019-2029 | 650m | 65m |
Arsenal | Adidas | 2019-2024 | 300m | 60m |
Chelsea | Nike | 2017-2032 | 900m | 60m |
Juventus | Adidas | 2019-2027 | 368m | 46m |
Bayern Munich | Adidas | 2015-2030 | 637.5m | 42.5m |
New Balance have had a good relationship with Liverpool since they first came board as Warrior in 2012 and they have first refusal over extending their terms, provided they can equal a rival offer. Whether they can match the sums that are being mooted by Nike and Adidas, however, remains to be seen. Manchester City recently signed terms with Puma for £650m for a long-term contract.
