Mother of Barcelona target Rabiot cries out, reveals horrible and unfair treatment he gets from PSG

From being on the verge of making the France team for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia and forming a core of the future of Ligue 1 giants, Paris Saint-Germain, midfielder Adrien Rabiot has found himself completely frozen out from the national team and PSG as his once promising career is in danger of a premature end.

And now, his mother, who happens to also be his agent, has cried out at her son’s plight at PSG. The France international midfielder is currently a persona-non-grata at the Parc Des Princes after refusing to discuss a new contract with the club.

Rabiot’s mother and agent, Veronique Rabiot, has hit out at the club’s treatment of her son, comparing him to a prisoner – Rabiot has been barred from training with the PSG first team as a result of his refusal to sit down with the club’s board concerning his contract which expires at the end of the season.

And his mother is not taking the situation lightly, saying to French publication, L’Equipe that Rabiot feels very badly about his current predicament: “I do not want to cry about it, or to weaken even more Adrien saying he is not good,” Veronique said.

“We are attacking the human side here. We are modest. I can only tell you that he feels very badly [about] everything that happens. Adrien is a prisoner! He is even held hostage by PSG. Soon it will be dry bread, water, and a dungeon! This environment is cruel,” she added.

23-year-old Rabiot has neither made a single appearance nor featured in a match-day squad for PSG since December 11, with rumours continuing to link him with a move to La Liga giants, Barcelona.

In that time, PSG have marched on towards securing another league title, but have crashed out of one domestic cup competition and, crucially, wasted a big advantage against Manchester United to crash out on away goals at home to the Red Devils in the Champions League round of 16.

Rabiot celebrated, sort of, PSG’s exit from the Champions League and was fined by the club for that. Rabiot was also heavily criticised after he was spotted at a nightclub immediately after PSG’s shocking Champions League exit at the hands of Manchester United two weeks ago.

The midfielder also liked a video on social media of former Manchester United and Olympique Marseille defender, Patrice Evra, mocking and insulting the Parisians for losing to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side in the Champions League.

But Veronique has insisted that her son accidentally liked the wrong video from Evra, and mocked the idea that PSG could be outraged about Rabiot visiting a nightclub at the same time that they are refusing to play him.

“I can already say that we blamed him for liking the wrong video,” Veronique said. “This is not the one where Patrice Evra ‘celebrates’ the elimination of Paris. And then, there is this nightclub outing … But PSG wants to take care of Adrien’s private life too, when they don’t even want him anymore!”

She added: “They want him to put on his pajamas at nine o’clock, before the game, in front of his TV, to go to bed at eleven o’clock! These people do not know the rhythm of life of the players? When a player plays, which is his job, he has a training rhythm. In this case, nothing happens for Adrien. Adrien is not going to take a pottery class until something happens. He must take care of himself, let him live!”

Rabiot on his part has remained resolute in his desire to leave the club as he waits out the months left on his current deal to expire before he becomes a free agent, which would then allow him join Barca, or another club, for no fee at all.

With Barca already signing Frenkie de Jong on a pre-contract agreement after failing to land Rabiot in January, however, it could be that the France midfielder would have to find another new club altogether this summer.
