Super Falcons head coach Thomas Dennerby has given his opinion about Asisat Oshoala and Francisca Ordega standing a good chance of carting away with the Africa Women Player of the Year 2018 award at the expense of Thembi Kgatlana of South Africa.
Following their AWCON victory and other successful football victories Speaking exclusively Dennerby said: I’m very happy for both Oshoala and Ordega making it to the final three of the Best African Female Player Award. Both players have been specular in their unique ways both in their club sides and at the just concluded AWCON. It shows that they have done remarkably well to be nominated and they just have to keep on working hard. He said
For me, I see the Nigerian players at a better advantage, if only the organisers can remember the last tournament but when we are picking the best of the year, they must be talking about a whole one year, adding what happens in the leagues.”
The Swedish gaffer concluded by saying It is hard to say who will win but I think that they have a good chance if you look at the whole 2018 Performances Oshoala and Ordega in their respective club sides.
However, the event left out Falcons Desire Oparanozie who is down with an injury in the Semi-Finals of the AWCON against Cameroon in 2018. Assisat who has also won the awards four times is set to add another to her trophy room. her hopes might be cut short as she faces a battle from Francisca Ordega.
The WWC preparations kick off this January and all players will be expected to return to camp as soon as possible.
