Lagos Schools To Reopen In September, Says Sanwo-Olu

After months of being shut down, schools in Lagos are set to re-open in September, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu revealed on Saturday.

The Governor, in a regular briefing on the state’s COVID-19 status, said tertiary institutions in the state will re-open from September 14.

Many Feared Dead In Ondo Accident

Many persons are feared dead while scores more are left terribly injured following an accident of a diesel truck that lost control and rammed into a commercial area in Oloko Street, Ikare Akoko, Ondo State.

An eyewitness told SaharaReporters that the accident occurred around 4:30pm on Saturday.

Man Dumps Own Baby Inside Ondo Canal

A man identified as Muyiwa Ayorinde, has been arrested officers of the Ondo state Police Command for allegedly dumping his baby inside a canal.

The incident according to a report by The Punch, happened in the Oke Aro area of Akure, the state State capital.

Lagos State governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Saturday was on a visit to the site of the helicopter crash at Opebi area of the state, for an on-the-spot assessment of the situation, even as he sympathized with the families of the victims of the sad incident.

Yahaya Sharif-Aminu, the 22-year-old Musician who was sentenced to death for blasphemy by an Upper Sharia Court in Kano State on August 10, 2020, has been denied access to lawyers even as the 30-day deadline given to him to appeal the judgment lapses on September 9.

Saturday PUNCH learnt that a notice of appeal had yet to be filed in court even as Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, has expressed readiness to sign the convict’s death warrant once the 30-day deadline lapses.
