Abisoye Badiru, the founder of Faari Essentials, a fashion and lifestyle brand aimed at giving women the essentials to take pride in themselves through stylish clothing, shoes, bags, hair, jewelries and other fashion accessories, is the daughter of Lagos State National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Chairman, Alhaji Tajudeen Agbede.
The big bold and beautiful lady, who established Faari Essentials two years ago alongside her younger sister, Balqees Badiru, ventured into the fashion world because of her love for styling women in order to make them fashionable.
On how the business started, Abisoye said “Well, I have always loved to dress people up or do makeovers especially when I see ladies wear clothes that aren’t flattering to their body and being plus size, I find it difficult to find my size in stylish dresses and Faari creates an avenue for plus size ladies to find quality and stylish clothes.”
Abisoye said the idea of the fashion brand wouldn’t have come to fruition without the contribution of her kid sister, Balqees. She owed the success of the business to her sister whom she claimed is the brain behind the business.
“My sister and I started the business together. I loved the idea of dressing people up but she brought out the business in the love for makeovers. And she is the one currently behind all pictures we snap and post. She’s like the creative director of the business. She has a degree in fashion from Valisimo Fashion School and a BSc in Business Administration from Covenant University.” The dark and lovely lady said.
A Sociology graduate of Covenant University, Abisoye also a holds a Masters of Business Administration degree from University Of South Wales and Post Graduate Diploma in Education from National Teachers Institute. She is the proprietress of De-Taj Schools, a state-of-the-art citadel of learning located at Ogba.
Speaking on how she combines the running of the school with her fashion business, Abisoye said: “ Well as the proprietress of the school, I don’t have to be there every time, the admin officer, head teacher and principal handle the daily activities, I oversee them and evaluate results. I am able to dedicate time when I need to. It’s all about scheduling.”
On how she coined the name for her fashion brand, she had this to say: “I have always been a lover of everything Yoruba or traditional and when it was time to creating a brand, Faari in its meaning just felt right for the business. FAARI means pride, honor and self. The FAARI WOMAN is chic, fashionable, sexy, and classy and most of all confident regardless of size as we have managed to make sure all sizes are inclusive in our wears.
Faari Essentials is located at No 23, Shonola Street, Aguda, Ogba Lagos.
