For close to two decades, they were the fiercest rivals. In the golden era of home video movies in Nigeria, actresses did not come bigger than Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde and Genevieve Nnaji.

Despite starring in a couple of movies, their rivalry burned bright as they embarked on a cold war to dominate each other.

Audiences were also torn between the two. Omotola and Genevieve divided opinions and caused a lot of arguments among Nollywood fans.

By 2010, the rivalry somewhat cooled down after they starred in the movie ‘Ije’. Today, both legendary actresses are enjoying their status as screen goddesses and have forgotten about their squabbles during their younger years.

While the COVID-19 pandemic has brought up a lot of virtual battles between singers, songwriters, rappers and producers, we haven’t seen movie stars go at each other.

Wouldn’t it be fun if Genevieve Nnaji and Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde have a virtual battle where they play scenes from their best 20 movies?

It would be a Nollywood-dream come true.
