Why comparison between Kizz Daniel & Zlatan is a ‘slap in the face’ for the Flyboy

Nigerians woke up to the massive trending of two big names in the Nigerian music industry, Kizz Daniel and Zlatan Ibile. Twitter peeps in their character, started an unbalanced comparison between the two music sensations in the game.

Not leaving out the fact that their style and sound were accepted by a massive number of music lovers, the comparison between Kizz Daniel and Zlatan is baseless, unruly and unprofessional in all ramifications.

If not for the massive trend on Twitter which birthed the comparison, I don’t think there have been any point in time when these two arts were ever compared in the Nigeria’s music industry. It’s true both of them are making good music which resonates with their fans, but putting them side by side in contrast is a slap on Kizz Daniel’s face.

How can you even compare Kizz Daniel that has at least 10 hit singles, 2 hit albums, won MTV base awards, has remained consistent over the years to Zlatan???

In all fairness, this comparison should have been between Zlatan Ibile and Slimcase which makes it balanced right?

What’s Zlatan’s claim to fame?

He won the 2014 Airtel one mic talent show held in Abeokuta, Ogun state. Got introduced into the Nigerian music scene in 2017 following his single “My body” which he featured Olamide. Jumped on 2018 hit Able God by Chinko Ekun which features Lil Kesh.

His Zanku dance routine which was birthed from the hit track Zanku is arguably one of Zlatan’s most remarkable feat. Not also forgetting his 2019 hit track, “Killing Them” which borrowed verses from Nigeria’s afro-beat maestro, Burnaboy.

Now the question is, are the above listed points enough to bring him neck-to-neck with Kizz Daniel? The only Nigerian musician who dropped hits back-to-back even without collaborating with any artiste while at G Worldwide, his former record label.

Yes! Kizz Daniel was restricted from collaborating with other Nigerian artistes by his former record label. He was only allowed to collaborate with in-house artiste, DJ Shabsy and Sugarboy who are record label signees. The only collaboration Kizz Daniel did while at his former record label was a remix of his smash hit single Woju featuring Tiwa Savage and Davido.

“I’m signed to a record label and the management for now only allows me to collaborate with in-house artistes DJ Shabsy and Sugarboy. Maybe later I’ll do songs with other artists but for now it’s out of it.”

“It’s not really affected my relationship with other artists, because some do actually understand and others don’t. People have definitely approached me for collabos and I explain to them, the few that get it, they go out and say good things about me, for the others that don’t, I’m still hoping that they get it someday. Trust me I really want to do collaborations, I want to jump on a song with Reekado Banks, Falz because I think they are awesome, I want to do a lot of stuffs.”

Those were the words from Kizz Daniel whose first studio album, New Era landed at #8 on the Billboard World Album Charts during its first week sales. It also made it to #118 on the USA iTunes Charts and made it to #1 on the Nigerian iTunes Charts. This is an album that never had a collaboration! It contained 20 songs with only label mate Sugarboy making vocal appearance.

Now, let’s leave the era of Kiss Daniel and go right to the present day Kizz Daniel whose is the CEO of FLYBOY I.N.C.

His 2018 hit singles under his own imprint featured two of the biggest music exports in the Nigerian music industry, “For You” Wizkid and “One Ticket” Davido. Both songs were massively received by fans and got a lot of good reviews from music critics.

His second studio album “No Bad Songz” released in December 2018, was true to its name as there were literally no bad songs in the 20-track project which debuted at No 55 on the US iTunes Chart and became number 1 on the world Album Chart within 24 hours of its release.

Kizz Daniel became the only Nigerian songster to have almost all the big names in the music scene jump on a course. His Fvch You challenge which is an idea from his 2019 hit song had many A-listers on it. As simple as that may sound, it takes more than talent to pull that move.

This piece is not a comparison between Kizz Daniel and Zlatan, because none exists. Rather, it is an outline of the calibre of a singer the former is.

In my opinion, a comparison between Kizz Daniel and Reekado Banks would have been fair, same way a Zlatan vs Slimcase contrast would have been perfect.

For the Twitter peeps, let me believe this is just a paid trend which might be coming from the Zlatan camp to hype their boss who might be in the middle of releasing a new project.

Meanwhile, below are what peeps are saying on Twitter:
