It is clear to see that the Psquare brothers are not ready to settle their feud as it has been reported that popular Nigerian singer, Peter Okoye has taken to his Instagram page a few hours ago to call out his twin brother, as he reveals his plans to drag his brother, Paul’s team to court for using his image in promoting their show.
Paul Okoye who is now known by the stage name, Rudeboy, is billed to perform in Angola tomorrow and the show promoters used one of the old photos he took with Peter to promote the show.
While taking to Instagram, Peter otherwise known as Mr. P mentioned that it is quite sad they needed his photo to sell their show. He wrote:
“Na Wa o! So they needed my image to sell their show Angola. This promoters @pubfoureventosyou’ll be hearing from my lawyers soon. #UnaDonFindMyTrouble”.
Peter Okoye then posted another photo his brother had updated on his Instagram page while on transit to Angola to confirm he was actually going to perform at the show.
Some of his fans are not having it and they want him to sue his brother for copyright infringement. See thier reactions below;
@Ife wrote;
“He is not stupid why should they use his picture to sell out their concert … they didn’t use his picture till they heard is hit one more night and realized it will boost their concert if people taught he was coming … forget the blood, this is business they separated already”.
Another said;
“All I see is frustration Paul is better than you, and he is the voice of Psquare, it’s so obvious he has been the one singing all songs when you guys were together, dude you left Psquare and started a different sound, Move on.
It would be recalled that months after the duo went their separate ways, their elder brother, Jude Okoye, took to comparing Peter, one of the brothers that made up the team, to the biblical prodigal son. This came after Paul Okoye, the other of the twin group, posted a photo displaying himself, Jude Okoye and another person who was supposedly a friend. Alongside the picture, Paul Okoye simply wrote the caption, “M.E.N”. A fan who wondered at the obvious absence of Peter and how it did not matter to the trio in the picture lodged a complaint in the form of a comment.
The fan accused Jude Okoye who was once the manager of the former group of initiating the disunity between the brothers. The fan wrote;
“This Jude sef,what do we call you huh?? Opara iberibe e kwa,look at me wey nothing concern not able to mind my business and you the opara feeling so comfortable with the disunity*smh.”
Jude who did not take the statement of the concerned fan very lightly threw back a response. Within the reply, he likened Peter Okoye whose stage name is now Mr. P to the biblical prodigal son.
Jude also pointed out that the absence of Peter and dancer from the group or family did not necessarily mean he had to abandon everyone else. Here were his exact words;
“When the prodigal son left, did the father stop breathing or abandon the rest of the family? Opara iberibe kee u there!”.
Also recall that although the duo did not give a concrete reason for going their separate ways, Mr P indicated that it bordered around an issue that involved Jude their elder brother. Mr P also hinted that the trouble that brewed within the family threatened the life of his family.
In 2016 it was reported that Peter Okoye who has been performing solo using the stage name MR.P, took to his Instagram page to blast his twin brother Paul, his elder brother and former manager Jude, and another show promoter, for trying to mislead the public using their stage name ‘PSQUARE’.
In a very lengthy post, here’s what Peter posted below:
“Part1: Again, my attention has been drawn to a publication specifically uploaded on Linda Ikeji’s Blog. For the umpteenth time and in order to set the records explicitly straight, I never stated that I was not aware of the show, I simply stated that the contractual obligations were not favorable to me. In fact I was authoritatively informed by the organizers of the show that the show had been cancelled 4 days ago whilst money paid had been fully returned”
“It was, therefore, surprising to learn that the show was still scheduled to hold on 9th July, 2016 (@ Goma) and 17th August, 2016 (@ Kinshasa- VIP and Live concert) with the false statements being peddled that I was sick and unable to make the flight to Congo with my crew two nights ago to attend the show, in the first instance and my Twin Brother and Co-Owner of the Psquare brand granting a presumed Psquare press conference wherein he stated contradictory facts that I am not present because I missed my flight”.
“This is gross deception at its peak and no one in his right thinking mind will allow such falsehood to fester. I must reiterate that I owe my fans and by extension, fans of Psquare the obligation to speak the truth at all times and prevent a situation where the Psquare brand will be built on deception. It is my utmost belief that such a foundation based on falsehood will only create a damning consequence for the brand in the long run”.
“The issue at stake here is a fraudulent misrepresentation of my continued endorsement, participation and use of the Psquare brand without my consent or authority being sought or obtained. The purported Video posted on some blogs wherein it was alleged that I endorsed the show is self-explanatory”.
“In the said video, the days slated for the show to hold were 2nd July 2016 @ Goma and 9th July 2016 @ Kinshasa, however that video was recorded months ago. The show is slated to hold now on 9th July 2016 @ Goma and 17th August 2016 @ Kinshasa- VIP and Lives concert, thus it is easily discernible from the said Video that a new video was required but was not obtained due to inconclusive negotiations between my management and the promoters of the show”.
“Part2: I was told the show has been cancelled and money returned. I will not continue to fold my hands when there exists a situation calculated to foster disunity and lack of good faith with the brand. There are specific questions begging for answers here”.
“How come Paul never advertised this show upon landing in Congo on any of his social media handles as its customary when artistes are scheduled to perform? Why did Paul say that I was sick and unable to make the show when in fact, I am hale and hearty? Why did Paul grant a Psquare press conference stating that I missed my flight and I will arrive for the show, knowing fully well, I am not aware of the continuance of the show? All of these actions were calculated to deceive the fans and fraudulently misrepresent the facts all in a bid to make money in a non-transparent manner and economically assassinate my character, goodwill and credibility”.
“It is important to speak out for sake of posterity and of course, all my legal Arsenal will be deployed to ensure this fraudulent and mischievous act is addressed and any further recurrence prevented. Please Note that my loyalty will always remain to the brand PSQUARE. Thank you. MR.P (Peter of Psquare)” .
It is not known if the brothers are likely to exist again but following this trend of events happening in the individual lives of the twins, the possibility of a restored group is very slim.
