Actor, Yomi Fabiyi, is always in the news for one reason or another. While some agree with the things he says, others believe that he is always meddling in issues that don’t concern him.
But in a chat, Fabiyi brushed off the tag of a busybody. He said, “There is nothing I have spoken about that doesn’t concern me. Living in a country where there is a poverty of the duty of care, whatever anybody does that will affect society in any way ought to be our concern (as people who have voices). We are in a society where people don’t understand the importance of speaking out. Intelligent people will rather keep silent.
There is nothing I have raised my voice on that was not of serious importance. If you listen closely, you will realise that I only speak the truth about how things should be done properly. Even if it doesn’t affect me personally, if it affects society in any way, then it’s my business. I don’t even have to be on good terms with the person I’m speaking up for. I am of a different breed. I don’t like making trouble but I like people doing things the right way. People in civilised climes, who know the proper way things should be done, decided to support me because of my humanitarian activities.”
Yomi, who is also part of the Meet Jacobs’ and the Barbershop Crew, explained what fascinated him about the project. “I was moved by the concept of the show and the impact it would have. It is unique and I believe it is something people will love,” he said. Meanwhile, the actor insisted that contrary to what many people think, his marriage had not hit the rocks. “I’m not yet divorced. My marriage may be having issues but it has not been dissolved,” he said.
