The filmmaker yesterday shared a thread on Twitter, in which she accused customs officers at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, of harassment and attempted extortion. According to the filmmaker, she was disrespected by customs officers when their attempt to bully her and shake her down for money didn’t work.
Vice Presidential aspirant Peter Gregory Obi has reacted after kemi Adetiba narrated her horrifying experience at the Lagos airport. In reply, Peter Obi apologised to her for her experience and suggested what can be done to make things better. He wrote;
Hello Kemi. Congratulations on your blockbuster film, #KingOfBoys. I’m sorry you went through that experience. I agree that things can be better. How? Press RESET on service reforms by retraining public servants to serve, rather than harass Nigerians and visitors.

According to her, due to her firmness and resistance she was able to avoid the resilient staff of the airport who were bent on extorting money from her.
Kemi Adetiba’s latest debacle with officials of the airport in Lagos is coming barely a day after the actor, Aremu Afolayan lashed out at the same organisation. She started out narrating how her flight from Paris was delayed for almost 6 hours yesterday. Going further to say, If I thought that was the worst my day could get, I was wrong. I got back into Lagos at about 2am and this is where a series of unfortunate events unfolded… Right there at MY country’s airport.
Going through immigration& picking my luggage was a relative breeze. As I approached customs, I knew all would not be well as I saw a lady’s eyes light up like I was a fowl approaching a den of hyenas. I was still a good distance away when she beckoned for my porter and I to pull Aside.
I had only been gone a week (to give a KEYNOTE speech) and then took out a few days to rest before returning to Nigeria, so I didn’t do any shopping asides a bottle of perfume I had bought for a friend.
