Nollywood actor Jim Iyke was arrested by the Murtala Muhammed Airport Police Command for assaulting a Dana Air employee which has included him in the list of celebrities who have had issues the force in recent time.
We all know how scary it is to get involved in any issue that would result in getting arrested or visiting a police station in Nigeria.
Then imagine when the persons involved with the police is a known celebrity and how messy it can be. We have seen cases where these celebrities visit the police station to clear their names and how the media makes a huge buzz about it.
We will be looking at six celebrities who have at one time or the other get themselves involved with the police.
06. Davido
This was probably the biggest scandal that rocked the entertainment industry in 2017 when Davido was invited by the police for questioning over the death of his friend, Tagbo. It all started when actress, Carolina Danjuma wanted the singer to answer questions concerning the death of Tagbo.
Davido was eventually invited by the police when a footage was released and the singer was seen among the last persons who saw Tagbo before his death. After a while, he was cleared of all the accusations by the commissioner of police in Lagos state.
05. Burna Boy
Another big scandal in 2017 which finally ended with the police was the case of Mr 2Kay who was beaten to a pulp and robbed at his hotel room after performing at a show in Lagos. After the incident, the police immediately started investigations and four men were arrested for their involvement in the crime.
Back in April 2018, Diamond Platnumz was arrested by the Tanzanian Police Authority for posting a video on social media where he was making out with a lady.
According to the Tanzanian Information Minister, Harrison Mwakyembe, the musician had fallen foul of the new Electronic and Postal Communications (Online Content) Regulations in that country. He has however since come out to apologise for his perceived misconduct.
02. Shatta Wale
In February 2018, Shatta Wale was reportedly invited over by the Ghana Police Authority over comments he made about burning down churches. According to Ghanaian news outlet Joy News, the Ghanaian music star was invited for allegedly threatening to burn down churches in Ghana.
It would be recalled that a certain prophet in Ghana, Prophet E. K. Mensah of the Christ Vision Prayer Ministry suggesting that Shatta Wale has been marked to kick the bucket before December unless he repents from his sinful ways.
01. Jim Iyke
The Murtala Muhammed Airport Police Command, yesterday, arrested Nollywood actor, Jim Iyke, at the local wing of the airport for slapping an employee of Dana Air. Trouble started when the actor arrived late for his 12:15p.m. Abuja flight and the airline’s security personnel tried to help him meet up with the flight, but not before searching him. According to eyewitnesses, ‘’Iyke refused to be searched and pushed the man away, but the man insisted that he must be searched before boarding. The man’s insistence angered Iyke, who slapped the man for wasting his time.” Iyke was later arrested by officers from the Airport Police Command.
