Nigerian veteran singer, Duncan Mighty has recently been the toast of the town and without a doubt, the most featured Nigerian artiste in the past three months; all an aftermath of his impressive collaboration with Wizkid titled ‘Fake Love’.
Prior to the release of Fake Love, the Port Harcourt first son who holds an unquestionable amount of talent wasn’t so much of a subject in the curriculum of the mainstream discourse. Call it the Starboy effect, but release of the Wizkid-featured track has been followed by an enormous attention from both fans and fellow musicians alike; as he has since been featured on over four new tracks including Reekado Banks’ buzzing single ‘Bio Bio’. He has also been spotted in the studio with Burna Boy, Tiwa Savage and most-recently, Davido.
The sudden unignorable buzz around Wene Mighty has birthed a debate on social media, and earlier today, the debate ascended to a higher proportion as the singer became the number one trend on Twitter. Some have said that Wizkid revived Duncan’s career while others are saying the Port Harcourt first son was doing just fine. The debate seems to be an unending one and a question that has been repeatedly raised by online debater’s is; Besides Fake Love, has Duncan Mighty had a hit record in recent time? As a Twitter user insinuated, Duncan Mighty’s career ‘withered’ after the emergence of the new generation pop stars; Wizkid, Davido etc…
Note: In 2014 after the release of his fourth studio album, Grace and Talent, Duncan Mighty had a successful European tour which made a stop in Stockholm, Sweden and Vienna, Austria and a few cities in the US.
