COVID-19: Presidential Task Force warns against hasty reopening of schools
The Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 in Nigeria has warned states against rushing to reopen schools saying such action have escalated COVID-19 management situation in some other countries.
Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Chairman of the PTF, Boss Mustapha, speaking on Monday August 31 in Abuja said it would be in the best interest of Nigeria to stick to it’s slow phased easing of lockdown rules because it was effective. “It is in the above context that the PTF appreciates the on-going calls for re-opening of the education sector and indeed some sub-nationals are already making preparations for such.’ Boss Mustapha said.
“Whilst the PTF does not discourage making such preparations, we need to be guided by experiences from countries such as Germany, France, the United States and the UK where opening of schools in some cities led to an increase in confirmed cases and fatalities.” He also said more sectors of the economy may soon be reopened, and that the PTF would present its recommendations to President Muhammadu Buhari this week, which will determine the next phase in the national response. According to Boss, the last three weeks had shown a slowdown in the number of confirmed Coronavirus cases in the country, as in the last four months of testing, the lowest daily figure of confirmed cases (138) was reported on Sunday August 30th.

Two feared killed, policeman missing in Anambra
Two persons were feared dead while four others were injured in a boundary conflict between Odekpe and Allah/Onugwa communities in Anambra West Local Government Area of Anambra State.
A policeman on a peace mission in the area reportedly got missing in connection with the clash said to have occurred at a refugee camp in Igbamaka village, Ilushi community. The Nation gathered both communities have been at loggerheads since July over a parcel of land on their boundary.
Speaking to newsmen, a resident of Allah/Onugwa, David Uzor, alleged that his uncle was abducted during an invasion of the refugee camp by some persons he referred to as warlords suspected to have operated from Odekpe community. He said: “Odekpe people came in their numbers into the community where my people were taking refuge. When they arrived with about six boats, they began to shoot indiscriminately and chased everybody away.

Army hands 778 B/Haram wives, children over to 17 states, FCT
The Nigerian Army has handed over 778 wives and children of the Boko Haram terrorists and bandits captured during the Operation NUT Cracker to 18 state governors, including FCT Abuja.
Commandant 4 Special Forces, Maj.- Gen. Maude Ali Gadzama, disclosed this Monday at the command in Doma local government area of Nasarawa state. “Based on the detailed preparations that we are witnessing, I therefore present to you these captured 778 women and children, family members of Boko Haram terrorists that came from 17 states of the nation who have decided to terrorise this nation as you can see.”
He said that the women and children are the real terrorists as they are the people that indoctrinate the newly kidnapped and bankers of the spoils of kidnapping and armed robbery acts of their husbands.

Copter crash: Lagos begins reconstruction of damaged fence
Lagos State has commenced reconstruction of the fence damaged in the helicopter crash that occured in Opebi last Friday in line with the promise of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The reconstruction exercise commenced on Monday after integrity test was carried on affected buildings.
During his visit to the scene on Saturday, Sanwo-Olu assured owners of property damaged the State would ensure they were fixed.

Europa League draw: Tottenham to face Lokomotiv Plovdiv
