In the passing out parade of the outgoing 2018 Batch B Stream ll, the Coordinator, National Youth Service Corps, NYSC in Kano, Alhaji Ladan Baba states that no fewer than 22 Corps members that served in the state are to repeat their service year which would serve as a deterrent to others.
According to Gistmore, Laden made this known in an interview with reporters in Kano. He said the 22 corps members whose names were shortlisted are those to repeat service year is either found guilty of abandoning their places of primary assignment, PPA for at least three consecutive months or had committed some serious offenses.
“A total of 1,718, of the 2018 Batch B, Stream 2 corpers passed out from Kano last week thursday in a low key winding up passing out-organized in the four zonal offices in Wudil, Bichi, Kura and at the NYSC Secretariat in the state capital,” he said.
According to him, 18 out of the 22 corps members were to serve an extension of service years for between three weeks to four months, other four would serve all 9months while the remaining are shortlisted for honors Awards and commendation.
Laden praised the outgoing corps members for their participation in the development of the state, particularly in the area of teaching, health, agriculture, rural infrastructure, and the recently just concluded 2019 general elections. He also advises the corps members to continue to practice and develop more the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Training they had embarked on through their service year.
He went further urging as he called on parents to donate some portion of the tuition fees earlier given to their children to establish genuine businesses for themselves which is relevant for self-reliance.
