LIBEL SUIT: Austrian Court Slams Fine On Maureen Badejo, Mandates Her To Apologise To Another MFM Pastor

Controversial blogger Maureen Badejo appears to be sinking deeper into more trouble following her defamatory utterances against different Men of God; especially those of the Moutain of Fire and Miracle Ministries.

After initial landmark rulings from a court in Nigeria and also in the UK against Badejo, another court in Austria has also ruled against the controversial blogger.

Badejo was found guilty by the Austrian court in the case brought before it by MFM PASTOR Kayode Owoduni Omowanile.

The court ruled that Defendant (Badejo) is liable and guilty as charged hence she should cease and desist from alleging and/or disseminating her false statements about the MFM Pastor or risk tougher enforcement being levied against her.

The court also ruled that Badejo should within 14 days publish a retraction across all her platforms including the social media of all the previously circulated malicious lies peddled against the plaintiff (Pastor Omowanile)

Another part of the ruling by court read: “Defendant ls found jointly and severally liable to reimburse Plaintiff for the costs of these proceedings assessed at EUR 4,930.62 (this amount including Eur 513.27 VAT and EUR 1851cash outlays) pursuant to section 19a Lawyer’s Code (Rechtsanwaltordnung) within 14 days failing which payment shall be enforced.”

Before this latest ruling, an Ogun State High Court in February 2021 ordered the UK-based blogger to pay ₦500 million to the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) and its General Overseer, Daniel Olukoya, for defamation.

Abiodun Akinyemi, while delivering the landmark judgment, also ordered Ms Badejo, the proprietor of Gio TV, to pull down and erase the offending online publications concerning the claimants from the internet.

The judge further ordered the blogger to tender a written apology and retraction of the offending publications prominently on social media and at least three national dailies.

On its part, the UK Court in its own ruling in April 2021 among other things granted a perpetual injunction restraining Maureen Badejo from publishing further defamatory words against or concerning Dr Daniel Olukoya, his family and the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM).
