17 Killed As Violence Escalates
Police authorities in Katsina State have confirmed the death of 17 persons, including members of a vigilante group and one police officer. They were killed when bandits attacked Diskuru village, Dandume LGA of the state.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations officer in Katsina, SP Gambo Isah, said the bandits were on a reprisal in the village.
“Last week, the bandits came, and they didn’t find it easy with the villagers, because about three of them (bandits) were killed.
“So they went and regrouped and came back, over 200 of them on motorbikes, each carrying AK-47 rifle; they even came with a General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG),” DailyTrust quotes Isah to have said.
We’re Still Counting Number Of Policemen Killed – DIG
The Supervising Deputy Inspector General of Police, DIG, South- East Geopolitical Zone, DIG Celestine Okoye, Wednesday said the Nigeria Police was still counting the number of Policemen killed in the South-East region following the #EndSARS protests.
The DIG who is also in-charge of Information Communication Technology at Force Headquarters, Abuja, expressed sadness over the killing of Police officers and called on the perpetrators to desist from such dastardly act for peace to reign.
Okoye condemned in strong terms, the destruction of Police stations in the state, adding that such federal projects should be regarded as a valuable assets put in place for the benefit of all and sundry.
Yesterday, it was reported that suspected hoodlums under the guise of #EndSARS protesters in Ebonyi have murdered a Police Inspector, Mr Egu Omini, and cut off his manhood.
The hoodlums also snatched his AK-47 rifle after attacking a police station in Abakaliki, the state capital.
