SARS allegedly kills man in Delta, flees with victim’s car
A team of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Nigeria Police allegedly killed a young man on Saturday. The incident occurred in front of Wetland Hotel, Ughelli in Delta State.
The operatives allegedly shot the citizen and left the scene. A trending footage shows them speeding off in the victim’s vehicle – a white Lexus SUV. SARS is a dreaded Police unit that has repeatedly harassed and killed Nigerians.
In most cases, the culprits are never arrested or prosecuted. Their activities have triggered protested off and on social media (#EndSARS), with many Nigerian clamouring for a scrap of the department.

Principal lecturer commits suicide over unpaid salaries in Edo
A principal lecturer in the Department of Adult Education of the defunct College of Education now Tayo Akpata University, Ekiadolor, Benin, Friday Orobator, has committed suicide over a 13-month unpaid salary.
The senior lecturer, who was in his 50s and whose wife had just been delivered of a baby, hanged himself at his Obakhazbaye, Benin residence. He committed the act on Friday.
His lifeless body was discovered behind his apartment around 1:30 pm with the green rope he used to hang himself still on his neck. Policemen from Oba Station moved his body to the morgue around 1:30 pm.

Torture: Atiku seeks review of SARS activities
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has called for review of activities of the operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS). The former Vice President made the call in a message on his verified Twitter handle, @atiku, on Saturday evening.
He condemned some alleged oppressive activities of some operatives of the squad. According to the message, SARS, which was set up to confront some violent criminal activities, had metamorphosed into something of a machine of oppression subjecting many legitimately striving Nigerians to all forms of torture.
He, however, charged government to immediately take a review of the activities of the squad and weed out the bad elements among the operatives. “The Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) unit of the @PoliceNG was set up to confront violent crimes such as armed robbery, kidnapping and other related crimes.

Obaseki Mourns Auchi Poly Rector
The Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has mourned the death of the Rector of Auchi Polytechnic, Dr. Momodu Sanusi Jimah, who died on Saturday evening.
He described the deceased rector of Federal Polytechnic, Auchi as an astute administrator who contributed to the growth of the institution by ensuring stability.
In a message on Saturday in Benin, Obaseki lamented that it was with a heavy heart that he received the news of the passing of Dr. Jimah.

The former Minster of aviation Femi-Fani Kayode, has reacted to a viral video of himself allegedly abusing his estranged wife Precious.
This came few hours after Sahara Reporters released a now viral tape of Femi-Fani hitting his wife as he tried to drag her phone away.
Reacting to the video, Femi urges everyone to watch the video carefully as he said he did not beat his estranged wife, but simply “ took the phone from her to stop her from recordings him after catching her in bed with a married man days earlier”
