JUST IN: Police And Shi’ites In Brutal Clash In Bauchi, Many Injured

There was tension in Bauchi State as many scampered to safety when men of the Nigeria Police Force clashed with members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria popularly referred to as Shi’ites in the state.

The incident was said to have happened at about 10 am on Tuesday at the Central Market Roundabout and Tashan Babiye axis of the Bauchi, the state capital.

The policemen were said to have fired teargas and gunshots in a bid to disperse the crowd, which resulted in people scampering to safety.

Majority of the shops in the popular Central Market were closed as the traders shut down their shops immediately while making a run for their lives.

Although there has not been a detail of deaths from the incident, some eyewitnesses have said that many people sustained injuries.
