A 42-year-old man jumped to his death in Lake Kariba, after he thought his wife whom he had beaten up was dead.

According to Wikipedia, Lake Kariba, situated in Zimbabwe is the largest man-made lake and reservoir in the world, when measured by volume.

The unidentified man whose name was not revealed by the police, according to reports thought that he had murdered his wife due to the assault. It was however discovered that she had only become unconscious.

Assistant Commissioner, Paul Nyathi, the National Police spokesperson confirming the incident, said that the body of the man was later recovered on the shores of Lake Kariba.

The Police spokesman said, “On August 27, 2019, around noon, a 42-year-old male adult in Kariba had a misunderstanding with his spouse at their residence.

“The male adult struck his wife with an unknown object and she lost consciousness.

“The man fled from the scene and his body was later found on the shores of Lake Kariba.

“The woman was taken to hospital where she was treated and later discharged.

“We reiterate that members of the public should not resort to violence when embroiled in domestic disputes.”
