A man is currently on the wanted list of the police after taking revenge on a former school mate who bullied him when they both were still students more than 50 years ago.
The man, 69, identified as Thanapat Anakesri, shot dead Suthat Kosayamat, 69, as the old classmates held a reunion. He alleged that Suthat had bullied him when they were both 16 years old.
Both men were in attendance at the reunion which held on Saturday afternoon in Ang Thing, central Thailand. As they sat down to a meal of wine, a buffet of Thai food and ice cream, Thanapat, who was a former Naval officer confronted Suthat and accused him of bullying him 5 decades ago.
Suthat who is now a tailor stated that he could not remember the incident. The retired naval officer had requested an apology from the tailor, but he refused. Thanapat is said to have pulled out his handgun and shot Suthat with it before fleeing the room.
The deceased was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead by the doctors.
The organiser of the event, Tuean Klakang, speaking to the police, said that he did not believe that the issue was going to be as serious as that even though, the alleged killer had made some complaints about the bullying in the past.
Tuean told local media: “Thanapat would get drunk then often talk about how angry he was about being bullied by Suthat. He never forgot about it. But as these things happened such a long time ago, I would never have imagined that he would have killed his friend like this. We are all shocked by it.”
Suthat was given a traditional Buddhist funeral on Monday, August 26. Devastated friends and relatives paid tribute to the “caring and kind” man.
The police are now on the lookout for Thanapat, who is believed to be living in a neighbouring province in the country.
