Younger Brother To Atiku’s Closest Ally Kidnapped By Gunmen In Yola

Report has it that younger brother to former Vice-President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s closest ally Jauro Turaki has been kidnapped in the Njoboliyo axis of Yola South Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

The kidnap victim identified as Umar Hammandikko was taken away by gunmen in Njoboliyo on Sunday night. Sources said that Hammandikko was kidnapped by about five heavily armed gunmen who fired gunshots into the air to create panic and scare people off before briskly moving away with the victim.

According to the source, “The abductors, five in number, armed to the teeth with guns, whisked him away to an unknown destination.”

VANGUARD reports that the abductors have made contact with his family. The undisclosed source, however, did not reveal how much the kidnappers had demanded.

Hammandiko’s kidnap was the first incident which was recorded in weeks, following intensified efforts to clamp down on the menace in the state.

It will be recalled that a permanent secretary with the State Government as well as the stepmother to Senator Cliff Abbo, the Senator representing Adamawa North, were only a few weeks ago, abducted and released. No kidnap of a high-rank profile has been recorded in the state since then.

The incident was confirmed by DSP Sulaiman Nguroje, the image-maker of the Adamawa State Police Command, who further revealed that, the police crack team has been deployed to the area to rescue the victim as well as apprehend the culprits.
