He revealed that he himself was shot on his right thigh during the attack. He did not ask the army captain to come to rescue him from the policemen who had arrested him.

He said that he was not a kidnapper as is being reported in the media but was in fact only a political thug. He revealed that he was just a humble fisherman before he got involved in a life of crime. According to Wadume, he only began living a life of crime after some politicians approached him through one of his colleagues in the fishing business, Babangida Musa.

He said he was shocked at how soldiers opened fire on the Police Toyota Hiace vehicle which was conveying himself and the now late policemen to the Taraba Police Command Headquarters in the state capital, Jalingo.

Speaking further on the attack, he said that the policemen did not die after the shootings even though the vehicle had somersaulted three times before it landed in the bush. The soldiers however who had shot at the vehicle, rained bullets on them much to his surprise, before whisking him away in a red-coloured car to the army captain’s home.
