Fani Kayode Reacts To Alleged Killing Of Catholic Priest By Fulani Terrorists

Former minister of aviation, Mr Femi Fani Kayode has reacted  to the reported killing of a Catholic Priest identified as Paul Offu who was reportedly shot dead on Thursday, 1st August in Enugu State.

According to reports, the Catholic priest was shot dead along Ihe-Agbudu road in Awgu local government area of Enugu state.

Reacting, Fani Kayode be-moaned the death of the priest saying it was yet another example of the barbaric and homicidal disposition of herdsmen. He wondered how clerics like Kukah and Mbaka who consistently defend the atrocities of the herdsmen who he describes as ‘vagrant beasts’ feel about the wickedness.

The Catholic diocese of Enugu had announced the incident on its Facebook page even as they blamed the incident on suspected herdsmen.

Part of the diocese’s statement reads:

“With a deep sense of sorrow, the Catholic Diocese of Enugu announces the tragic death of Rev. For. Paul Offu who was shot dead this evening (1st August 2019) by some hoodlums suspected to be the notorious and murderous herdsmen, along Ihe-Agbudu Road in Awgu LGA,” the diocese wrote.

The priest was until his death the parish priest of St. James the Great parish, Ugbawka.

This incident is coming less than a month after another priest was killed by yet-to-be-identified people in the state.

Two incidences have been recorded within the past few weeks.

Ikechukwu Ilo was attacked and seriously injured by kidnappers who opened fire on him after he refused to stop his car.

This also comes months after Clement Ugwu, another priest, was killed by armed men while returning from a meeting in Ezeagu local government area.
