SAD! Guarantor Hangs Self After Friend Absconds With Micro-finance Loan

Reports have it that a 41-year-old woman identified as Shakirat Rasheed on Friday, took her own life in a sad incidence that occurred at Adeosun area of Apete in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Her reason for doing this was simply for the sole reason of her friend who had let her down despite the trust reposed in her.

The lady according to the report hanged herself when her friend whom she had stood for as a guarantor suddenly failed to repay a loan she took from a micro-finance bank.

The friend allegedly secured the loan from a popular micro-finance bank, LAPO.

Details revealed that the friend Rasheed reportedly stood for as a guarantor was at large forcing the guarantor having to pay the loan bac in bits.

Sources added that the loan had apparently weighed her down “causing Mrs Rasheed’s depression and she seemed unable to bear the problem any longer, especially when officials of the micro-finance bank reportedly called her on Friday to see them in their office.”

Detectives were led to the scene of the incident by the divisional Police Officer in charge of Apete

 

The family it was gathered said some rituals would have to be performed on the body before it could be detached from the rope hanging it to the ceiling

The Commissioner of Police, Shina Olukolu, confirmed the story.

He revealed that preliminary investigation indicated that the woman committed suicide.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the State Police Command, Mr. Olugbenga Fadeyi also corroborated and confirmed the story.

According to Daily Post, Fadeyi confirmed that more efforts were being intensified to get more details on her death.
