Another deadly attack has occurred which led to the brutal death of some people who were victims of the heartless attackers in a community in Okitipupa.

According to Vanguard, the Police in Ondo State have promised to arrest the fleeing suspect who killed eight members of a family of nine by setting on fire their home in Okitipupa Local Government Area.

The sad incident left many people in shock especially the residents of the area as fear and uncertainty gripped many of them over the development.
Meanwhile, SP Femi Joseph, the Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, gave the assurance in a telephone interview with the Newsmen on Wednesday. Joseph, who described the incident as unfortunate, also commiserated with the family of the deceased. “I do not know what was on the mind of the suspect to have set ablaze the family members, this is very unfortunate.

“Although on the run, we are seriously on a manhunt for the suspect who committed this dastardly act and we will bring him to justice,” he said. NAN reports that the residents of Igbodigo in Ayeka, Okitipupa, woke up on Tuesday morning to the horrible sight of nine family members severely burnt by fire.

The arsonist, believed to be a jilted suitor of a female member of the family, was reported to have at 2.00 a.m. while the family members were asleep poured petrol around their apartment and set it on fire. One of the nine victims was rescued with severe burns and rushed to a hospital in Okitipupa. The victim was later transferred to State Specialist Hospital in Okitipupa where doctors are battling to save his life.

In another development, some kidnappers who invaded a community in Katsina State to carry out their evil plot met stiff resistance from the residents.

This came as residents of Unguwar Bello in Kafur local government area of Katsina State have succeeded in foiling an attempt by suspected kidnappers to kidnap one of their own in the area and in the process killing a member of the gang.

The Spokesperson of the state’s police command, SP Gambo Isah confirmed the incident which he said happened in the wee hours of Tuesday. SP Isah said the kidnappers stormed the area, shooting sporadically but were resisted by people of the area.

Although the suspected kidnapper, he said is yet to be identified. According to him, “At about 2:00am today, the bandits attacked the village with guns, shooting sporadically but the villagers resisted the attack. “One of the bandits was overpowered by the locals and killed before the police arrived the village. “But the police have evacuated the corpse to the General hoyspital, Kafur,” SP Isah said.

It is expected that more security measures would be put in place to ensure that lives and property of the law-abiding people are protected.
