EFCC, Port Harcourt Zonal Office have arrested six suspected internet fraudsters at their hotel hideout in Rumuigbo, Port Harcourt, Rivers State. They were arrested on Friday, February 1, 2019 in a sting operation. The suspects, comprising four men and two ladies, are: Oghenekewe Innocent Akinnawo, Kemka Godseat Amadi, Revelation Macaulay, Damilola Adedoyin Oyinloye, Mary Ndubuisi and Jennifer Vandi.
Several items were recovered from them at the point of arrest. Some of them are three exotic cars: Benz- E350-4Matic; Toyota Camry XLE and Benz- GLE 450. .
Others are four iPhones, four laptops; one iPad, one iron sealed stamp; cheque books, car number plates and two unused bullets. They will soon be charged to court.
However, In a related development, The Army said it has arrested 16 criminals and political thugs terrorising Sokoto State. It said the alleged “political thugs” were arrested along Illela-Danfulani-Gwadabawa road on Saturday.
27 axes and 16 custom sticks were said to have been recovered from the suspects.
“While still conducting a search, a prominent politician in the state and a serving Senator came to the scene and ordered his mobile police escorts to release them,” the Army said on Sunday.
“In the process, the Department of State Security Service was molested and his clothes torn. The patriotic and professional officer still held on to the seized weapons.”
It further said the “undue pressure” and attempts to interfere with security operations by politicians for selfish reasons was indeed worrisome and won’t be tolerated.
“We have resolved to hold on to any arrested criminals or armed thugs until the end of the elections,” spokesman Sani Usman added.
