It’s no longer stealing of pants, it’s now ‘Your pant or your life…’ …. patrol units and other police formations in every nook and cranny of Lagos . Two young boys were stripped by after they were caught stealing panties in Lagos, as the trend of people using the female underwear for ritual continues.
The two boys who appeared to be in their teen were reportedly caught red-handed by some residents who sighted them after stealing an underwear and was allegedly looking for more to pick. They were forced to strip off their clothes and paraded in public as further details of what later happened to them – were not given.
This is happening weeks after a teenage boy was caught with some panties and was paraded in the street after being beaten mercilessly by residents in Lagos.
It was reported last week that an angry crowd of residents descended on two young men after they were nabbed stealing panties few days ago in Benin city, Edo state. It was gathered that the young men suspected to be fraudsters aka yahoo-boys stole the two underwear and were looking for more to pick before they were apprehended along Sapele road in Benin. They were beaten by the residents who even forced them to burn the panties right in public.
This is coming days after another young man was apprehended after stealing panties and other clothing items in Edo state. The Hausa man popularly known as Aboki, stole the items at Lagos street in Ring road area, Benin city and was caught at Orominyan area by the residents. Female leggings, boxers, underwear and other clothing items were also found in his possession.
Earlier in November 2018, a social media user, who claimed she was a student of a state –owned university in Delta State, had raised the alarm on social media about a similar incident where unidentified hoodlums allegedly stopped some ladies and snatched their pants at gunpoint.
The pant stealing took another angle according to a lady, identified simply as Maradeam Osuji, unidentified hoodlums had stopped young girls and snatched their undies at gunpoint, adding that some of the victims were even forced by the hoodlums to urinate in cellophane bags, which the gunmen also took away. She said the new wave of crime had left female undergraduates in the area frightened for being the target of pants’ robbers lately.
In a message she posted on social media, Osuji said: ‘’ Please, if you have any female (undergraduate), drop a prayer for her. A girl was forced to pull off her pant at gun point in Abraka. It’s no longer stealing of pants, it’s now ‘Your pant or your life…’
