‘I’ve been homeless,’ BBNaija housemate Mike Edwards opens up on his 2018 ordeal (Video)

2018 was a tough year for Big Brother Naija housemate, Mike Edwards who is currently in the 2019 edition of the reality TV show.

He sure looks all rich and fresh right now but there was a time the Aireyys CEO and owner of the first black-owned Cigar brand in the United Kingdom was a ‘homeless’ man as revealed on his official Instagram account a few hours ago. He was not allowed to compete for Nigeria in sports competitions.

In April 2018, the fully-bearded man in the ‘Pepper Dem Gang’ was barred from competing for Nigeria at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia because he represented Britain at the European Junior Championships in 2009. Despite all his efforts to switch allegiance and represent his motherland, the England-born professional high jumper was denied the opportunity.

So when the 2018 African Senior Athletics Championship which took place in Asaba in August of the same year, Mike was able to complete the process of his switch which handed him the chance to represent Nigeria in the competition. According to Mike, being a part of the competition was a ‘priceless’ moment in his career.

‘My whole life I moved around, born in Manchester, England. I moved to the states with my family, and came back to England to pursue my High Jump career. I’ve been homeless, and also felt homeless.

‘This moment right here; after all that happened in 2018, competing for my Mother’s land, in my Mother’s land… Priceless!,’ as updated on his verified Instagram page.
