Aikhomu Is Dead

Former Chief of Naval Administration Rear Admiral Joe Aikhomu (rtd) is dead, The Nation has learnt.

Aikhomu, 65, passed on Thursday morning in Abuja allegedly from COVID-19 complications.

The deceased who was younger brother to former military Vice President, Admiral Augustus Aikhomu (rtd), was until his death, chairman of Ocean Marine Solutions (OMS), a company his late brother founded with businessman Captain Hosa Okunbo.

Aikhomu was also a member of the investigative panel on arms procurement between 2007 and 2015 which was set up by President Muhammadu Buhari during his first tenure.

Fulani Herdsmen Plotting to Islamize Southern Nigeria – Bishop

A Nigerian Bishop on Thursday cried out over alleged plans by Fulani herdsmen to Islamize the Southern region.

The General Overseer of Mount Zion Faith Global Liberation Ministry Inc, Nnewi, Anambra State, Bishop Abraham Chris Udeh made the allegation in a statement he signed and issued on Thursday, according to DailyPost.

He accused the federal government of allowing herdsmen to kill innocent Nigerians.

The cleric, however, warned that God will not allow any plot to Islamize the Southern part of the country, succeed.

The statement reads partly: “It pains me that the Federal government has continued to allow herdsmen to be armed with dangerous weapons with which they attack innocent and unarmed citizens and still go scot-free.

“Look at the way the Fulani herdsmen terrorize the Southern part of Nigeria including the South East and their mission is to Islamize the country.

“We all know that but it can’t work out. I assure them that the God of Ndigbo and God of Israel will strike all those who are behind that action.

“The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob is still alive and he will never allow them to Islamize this country as they have planned.”

Boko Haram Abducts Many Passengers Along Maiduguri- Damaturu Highway

Suspected Boko Haram insurgents have abducted many travellers along Maiduguri/ Damaturu highway in Borno state.

Sources told Daily Trust that some of the passengers were abducted at Garin-Kuturu near Auno, Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State, around 1:30pm on Thursday afternoon.

According to the source, the insurgents ambushed commercial vehicles plying the highway on Thursday afternoon and forced many passengers into the forest.

Nnamdi Kanu Threatens To Hunt Down Wike Over Alleged Massacre Of Igbo Youths In Rivers

The leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has threatened to deal with Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, over the alleged massacre of Igbo youths at Obigbo, Oyigbo local government area of the state during last year’s #ENDSARS protests.

The protest was reportedly hijacked by hoodlums who stormed the settlement dominated by Igbo traders and a clash ensued between the two groups.

The governor later sent in security forces to quell the riot and many Igbo youths were allegedly killed in what Kanu has insisted was a systemic massacre of IPOB members.

Apart from the alleged massacre, over 60 women were arrested by the Department of State Service (DSS) and detained for more than five months.

If I Were President, I Will Smoke Out Bandits Not Negotiate – Orji Uzor Kalu

Former Governors of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu has said he would never negotiate with bandits but smoke them out if he were the President of Nigeria.

Kanu made the assertion shortly after a closed-door meeting with former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida at his Up Hill Residence in Minna, Niger State,

“I can not. I will never, never negotiate with terrorists, they are terrorists. I will smoke them out”

Asked on the way out of the current security quagmire bedevilling the nation, Kanu who is also the Senate Chief Whip said one of the ways to end insecurity is to replace Service Chiefs.

“The way out of the current problem we are facing is what the federal government is doing by replacing Service Chiefs. I am not going to say more. But, the Bandits will be surprised at what will happen to them in three months.”

Air Force Plane Crash Victims Buried In Abuja

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), on Thursday, in Abuja, buried its personnel who died in the Beechcraft King Air B350i crash on February 21.

The officers were buried in National Military Cemetery, Karonmajigi, Airport Road, Abuja.

The officers are Haruna Gadzama, a flight lieutenant (Captain), Henry Piyo, flight lieutenant (Co-Pilot), Micheal Okpara, a flying officer (Airborne Tactical Observation System (ATOS) Specialist) and Bassey Etim, a warrant officer (ATOS Specialist).

The others are Olasunkanmi Olawunmi, a flight sergeant, (ATOS Specialist), Ugochukwu Oluka, a sergeant (ATOS Specialist) and Adewale Johnson, an aircraftman (Onboard Technician).

I Will Love To Be President – Fayose

A former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has insisted that he has interest in becoming the president of Nigeria, if opportunity permits.

The ex-governor also said he was not interested in the rumoured presidential ambition of the national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, in 2023.

Asked about his view concerning 2023, he said the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is capable of producing president after the expiration of President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure.
